Faith like a grain of mustard seed

"For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."

I have been reading though Corrie Ten Boom's book, I Stand at the Door and Knock, and it has been so refreshing and uplifting for my soul. I struggle with doubting God more often than I would like to admit. This book contains forty devotions by the author that were only recently discovered in the last few years. It has been so encouraging to my faith to read account after account of God answering prayer and coming through in miraculous ways for His children.

Corrie writes in one of her chapters, "Missionaries in the Congo told me of an experience they once had. In a home, a kind of boarding school, were two hundred missionary children. The Mau Maus decided to kill all of the children and their teachers. From the home, they saw a large group of Mau Maus approaching, so they all knelt down and prayed for protection. There was only a small hedge around the home and a few soldiers lived with them, but that meant nothing against the superior strength of the enemy. Suddenly they saw the rebels turn around and run away. The same thing happened the next day, and again on the third day. Then they stayed away.

"One of the rebels was wounded, and was taken to the mission hospital by people who had found him on the side of the road. When the doctor was bandaging his wounds, he asked, 'Why didn't you come into our house? You'd planned to kill us, hadn't you?'

"The man answered, 'We couldn't. We saw hundreds of soldiers in white uniforms and we were scared to death.'

"In Africa, soldiers never wear white uniforms. Those people had seen angels. The missionaries understood that it was angels. What a great God and a loving Father we have, that He sent these ministering spirits to protect those who will inherit salvation."

There are so many passages in the book that I would love to quote to you all but this post would get rather lengthy. Instead, I would just like to share what I took away from it and how it is encouraging me every morning in my quiet time with God.

I'm being reminded...

that nothing is too small, big, or difficult for God.
God delights in the impossible.
God desires our faith in Him to be strengthened.
never give up praying for the salvation of a loved one.
take everything to God in prayer.
we truly have not because we ask not.
through reading the Bible, all of God's treasures are continually laid in our hands.
waiting on the Lord is a blessing, even though we may not see the fruits of it right away.

I would encourage you, if you have never read this book than pick up a copy for yourself here. I hope and pray that God will use it to strengthen your faith and inspire you to trust in Him through every circumstance that life brings us.
